SPINAL DEGENERATIVE DISORDERS

SPINAL DEGENERATIVE DISORDERS

Gradual deterioration of the spinal structures, including intervertebral discs, facet joints, ligaments, and vertebrae, results in degenerative spinal conditions. Genetics, bad posture, aging, and repeated stress are all significant factors. Chronic pain and nerve compression can result from degeneration.

Typical Degenerative Conditions

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Lumbar and cervical spondylosis
  • Herniation or bulge in the disc
  • Stenosis of the spinal canal

Reasons

  • The process of natural aging
  • Stress at work
  • Being overweight
  • Smoking
  • A sedentary way of living

Symptoms

  • Persistent lower back or neck pain
  • radiating discomfort in the legs or arms
  • Tingling and numbness
  • weakness of the muscles
  • Diminished mobility

Diagnosis

  • X-ray for arthritis and alignment
  • MRI for nerve and disc assessment
  • If necessary, a CT scan

Treatment
  • Ergonomics and changing one’s lifestyle
  • Exercises and physical therapy
  • Painkillers and injections
  • In more severe cases, surgical fusion or decompression

1. Lumbar disc prolapse
 2. Lumbar canal stenosis
3. Cervical disc prolapse
                 4. Cervical Spondylotic myelopathy

Options :
1. Micro-lumbar discectomy
2. Endoscopic discectomy
